Chemical Properties
1. A pale yellow, oily liquid with a strong, mercaptan-like odor; at extremely low concentrations, it exhibits aromas of roasted nuts, grilled meat, and coffee. It is slightly soluble in water and readily soluble in ethanol, ether, chloroform, and other organic solvents.
