Chemical Properties
It has a strong caramel-like aroma, which can be pungent at high concentrations. It is practically insoluble in water but soluble in hot ethanol and diethyl ether.
Applications
1. Food flavoring. Suitable for caramel-flavored coffee.
2. Antioxidant
3. Can be used as an additive in petroleum products such as hypoid gear oils, extreme-pressure industrial gear oils, hydraulic oils, and greases.
