Naturally found in ingredients such as chives, onions, and leeks, it is a highly recognizable short-chain alkenal flavoring.
Core Applications
1. Food Flavoring: FEMA No. 3194, listed as an approved food flavoring under China’s GB 2760 standard. It is used to formulate fruit and vegetable-based food flavorings and is compliant with various food processing applications.
2. Pesticide Intermediates: As a key intermediate, it is used in the production of pyrethroid insecticides such as cypermethrin and deltamethrin.
3. Organic Synthesis: As an intermediate in fine organic synthesis, it is used in the production and preparation of downstream alkenal derivatives.
Storage Requirements
Must be stored in a sealed container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area designated for flammable materials. As it is air-sensitive, it must be kept away from open flames and high-temperature heat sources, and stored separately from strong oxidizing agents to prevent the risk of combustion.
