Application:
1.Triisopropylsilyl chloride can be used as a pharmaceutical intermediate.
2.Triisopropylsilyl chloride is used as a catalyst in the preparation of (siloxy)cyclobutene derivatives. It is also used in the addition reaction between diethylzinc and N-diphenylphosphonylimide.
3.Pharmaceutical and organic synthesis intermediates.
Synthesis:
In a 1-liter three-neck flask, add 74.17 g (3.09 mol) of magnesium metal, 240 mL of tetrahydrofuran, and, under nitrogen atmosphere, add 376.38 g (3.06 mol) of bromoisopropane dropwise at 45–55 °C. The addition is completed in approximately 6 hours; the mixture is then held at 45–55 °C for 30 minutes before use. In a 2-L three-neck flask, add 64.2 g (0.97 mol) of SiCl₄ and 200 mL of tetrahydrofuran. Under a nitrogen atmosphere, add the Grignard reagent dropwise at 0–5 °C. After the addition is complete, raise the temperature to 50–55 °C and maintain it for 4 hours. cool to room temperature, filter under vacuum, wash the filter cake with a small amount of tetrahydrofuran, combine the filtrates, and distill under reduced pressure, collecting the fraction at 82–85 °C/15 mmHg to yield 122 g of a colorless liquid, with a yield of 74%.
