Applications:
When acrylic resins containing tetrahydrofurfuryl acrylate as a copolymer component are used in combination with amino resins, they can cure at relatively low temperatures (around 100°C). At the same time, the molecular bonds exhibit a certain degree of flexibility, which can serve as a plasticizing agent when blended with other resins. Furthermore, acrylic tetrahydrofurfuryl ester can also be used as a monomer diluent in UV-curable products. Its unique cyclic ether structure provides better adhesion to most substrates compared to other monofunctional monomers. It also exhibits low shrinkage, excellent weather resistance, high abrasion resistance, and strong water resistance, making it widely used in UV-curable adhesives, coatings, inks, and other applications.
Chemical Properties:
Acrylic tetrahydrofurfuryl ester (TFA) is an important specialty acrylic ester. The cyclic ether group in its molecule is more reactive than a linear ether group, and the hydrogen atom at the α-position of the ether bond also exhibits some reactivity. This unique structure confers special properties on its downstream products.
