Applications:
1.When hydroxypropyl methacrylate is copolymerized with other acrylic monomers, it can be used to produce acrylic resins containing active hydroxyl groups. It is used to formulate two-component coatings in combination with melamine-formaldehyde resins, diisocyanates, epoxy resins, and other materials. This product is also used in the synthesis of adhesives for textiles and can serve as an additive in degreasing lubricants.
2.Hydroxypropyl methacrylate can be used as an active diluent and crosslinking agent in radiation-curing systems, as well as a resin crosslinking agent and a modifier for plastics and rubber. It is used in the production of thermosetting coatings, adhesives, fiber treatment agents, and modifiers for synthetic resin copolymers listed in Chemicalbook. It can also serve as one of the primary crosslinking functional group monomers used in acrylic resins.
Production Method:
It is obtained by the reaction of methacrylic acid with propylene oxide.
