Application:
Methyldimethoxysilane (DMMS) is highly reactive and reacts rapidly with water and moisture in the air to form silicic acid and methanol. It can also be used as a condensation reagent for alcohols in the synthesis of organosilicon polymers.
Preparation Method:
Under specific temperature, catalyst, and initiator conditions, 1,3,5,7-tetramethylcyclotetrasiloxane reacts with trimethyl formate via chain-breaking and ester exchange reactions to produce methyl dimethoxysilane; a stabilizer is added during the reaction to suppress disproportionation.
