Allyltrimethylsilane is a colorless, anhydrous liquid at room temperature and standard atmospheric pressure. It is commonly used as a nucleophile; the carbon atom at the terminal end of its double bond is first attacked by an electrophile, forming a carbocation intermediate, which then loses the trimethylsilyl group to generate a new terminal double bond.
Application:
Used in the synthesis of polymeric organosilicon compounds.
Production Method:
It is obtained by the reaction of trimethylchlorosilane with allyl magnesium bromide.

A colorless liquid. Boiling point: 44°C (2.4 kPa); relative density: 1.1628 (20/4°C); refractive index: 1.4675 (20°C). Miscible with organic solvents; insoluble in water.
