Applications
1. 3-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)propylmethyldiethoxysilane is primarily used in unsaturated polyester composites to improve the mechanical, electrical, and light transmission properties of the composites; in particular, it significantly enhances the wet-state properties of the composites.
2. Impregnating glass fibers with this coupling agent improves the wet mechanical strength and electrical properties of glass-fiber-reinforced composites. 3. In the wire and cable industry, treating a clay-filled, peroxide-crosslinked EPDM system with this coupling agent improves the dissipation factor and the ratio of inductance to capacitance.
4. When 3-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)propylmethyldiethoxysilane is copolymerized with vinyl acetate and acrylic or methacrylic monomers, the resulting polymers are widely used in coatings, adhesives, and sealants, providing excellent adhesion and durability.
