
Odor Characteristics
It has a typical fresh mushroom aroma, accompanied by earthy, hay, and herbal notes. When diluted, it also exhibits subtle scents reminiscent of lavender and roses. At low concentrations, it carries a faint, sweet-and-salty odor similar to raw chicken.
Storage Requirements
Store in a nitrogen-flushed, light-protected container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area at temperatures below 30°C. For some high-purity products, refrigerated storage at -4°C is recommended. Keep away from open flames and heat sources, and store separately from strong oxidizing agents and strong alkalis to prevent reactions and deterioration.
Core Applications
1. Food Flavoring: Listed as an approved food flavoring under China’s GB 2760 standard, it is primarily used to formulate mushroom- and earthy-flavored food flavorings. It has regulated maximum usage limits in beverages, baked goods, condiments, and other product categories.
2. Personal Care Fragrancing: Used in the formulation of personal care fragrances; it can also be used to prepare synthetic essential oils and reconstituted essential oils, or further processed into ester-derived fragrances for addition to perfumes, soaps, and personal care products.
3. Other Applications: It can serve as an insect attractant, used in combination with carbon dioxide for insect trapping and killing. It can also function as an intermediate in fine organic synthesis for the production of certain pharmaceutical raw materials.
