Naturally found in coconut oil, breast milk, and various dairy products, it is a classic milky-scented base fragrance ingredient.
Applications:
1. Used in the formulation of cheese, cream, coconut, and tropical fruit-based food flavorings; it significantly enhances the rich, creamy body of dairy notes.
2. Serves as a key organic synthetic intermediate for the preparation of caprylic acid esters, surfactants, plasticizers, and metal lubricants. It also possesses excellent antibacterial and preservative properties, making it suitable for use in the formulation of preservatives for personal care and hygiene products.
3. As a medium-chain saturated fatty acid, it is an important source of energy for human metabolism and can also be used in the pharmaceutical industry to prepare bactericides and preservatives.
Storage and Safety:
Store in a sealed container in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area at a temperature between 20–30°C. Keep away from strong oxidizing agents, open flames, and high-temperature heat sources. Wear safety goggles and acid- and alkali-resistant protective gloves during handling to avoid direct contact with the skin or eyes, which may cause burns.
