1. Key UVB Sunscreen Ingredient: As an oil-soluble UVB absorber, it effectively filters UVB rays in the 295–315 nm wavelength range, protecting the skin from sunburn and photodamage. It is one of the most widely used classic sunscreen agents in global sunscreen formulations and is suitable for all types of water-resistant sunscreen products.
2. Solubilizing Agent in Sunscreen Formulations: It exhibits excellent solubilizing capacity for crystalline solid sunscreen agents such as avobenzone, helping to enhance the stability of blended sunscreen systems and prevent crystallization issues in formulations. It is widely used in sunscreen lotions, gels, sun sticks, and makeup products with SPF.
3. Auxiliary Agent in Cosmetic Fragrances: Used as a fragrance solubilizer in perfumes and personal care products; it possesses a subtle minty scent that enhances the product’s olfactory experience and can also serve as a mild emulsifying stabilizer in skincare formulations.
4. Research and Standard Reference: Serves as a USP reference standard for chromatographic analysis of sunscreen agent concentrations in cosmetics and for photochemical research; it can also function as an organic synthesis intermediate in the preparation of related fine chemicals.
Storage Requirements
1. General Environment: Store in a sealed container in a cool, dry, and light-protected area at 10–30°C. The product remains stable under normal room temperature conditions in an inert gas atmosphere; small laboratory samples may be refrigerated at 2–8°C.
2. Safety Precautions: Keep away from open flames and high-temperature heat sources. The storage area must be kept away from strong oxidizing agents, strong acids, and strong bases. Avoid contact with eyes and skin, and prevent irritation of mucous membranes.
