1. Key UVB Sunscreen Ingredient: As a classic oil-soluble UVB absorber, it effectively filters UVB rays in the 280–320 nm wavelength range to prevent sunburn. It is one of the most widely used base sunscreen agents in global sunscreen formulations and is suitable for all types of water-resistant sunscreen products.
2. Solubilizing Agent in Sunscreen Formulations: It exhibits excellent solubilizing capacity for crystalline solid sunscreen agents such as avobenzone, helping to enhance the stability of blended sunscreen systems and prevent crystallization issues in formulations. It is widely used in high-SPF sunscreen lotions, gels, and sticks.
3. Auxiliary Agent in Personal Care and Fragrance Products: Used as a fragrance solubilizer in perfumes and personal care products, it possesses a subtle, resinous scent that helps enhance the product’s olfactory experience and can also serve as a mild emulsifying stabilizer in skincare formulations.
4. Research and Reference Standards: As a USP reference standard, it is used for chromatographic analysis of sunscreen agent content in cosmetics and for photochemical research. It can also serve as an organic synthesis intermediate in the preparation of related fine chemicals.
5. Material Light Stabilizer: Used as an auxiliary light stabilizer in polymer materials such as plastics and rubber to improve weather resistance and delay UV-induced aging and degradation.
Storage Requirements
1. General Environment: Store in a sealed container in a cool, dry, and light-protected area at 0–30°C. The product is stable at normal room temperature; small laboratory samples may be refrigerated.
2. Safety Precautions: Keep away from open flames and high-temperature heat sources. The storage area must be kept away from strong oxidizing agents, strong acids, and strong bases. Avoid contact with eyes and skin to prevent irritation of mucous membranes.
