Diisobutyl phthalate /DIBP CAS No:84-69-5 C16H22O4

Applications

1. Primarily used as a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plasticizer, it is widely used in the plastics, rubber, paint, lubricants, and emulsifiers industries.

2. It can serve as a plasticizer for cellulose resins, vinyl resins, nitrile rubber, and chlorinated rubber. Its plasticizing performance is similar to that of DBP, but it is more volatile and more susceptible to water extraction than DBP, making it a suitable substitute for DBP. This product is toxic to crops and should not be used in agricultural PVC films. It is low in toxicity, with an oral LD50 of 20–25 g/kg in rats. The United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and the United States permit the use of this product in food packaging materials. The United Kingdom stipulates that the maximum usage level of this product in food packaging products made of polyvinyl chloride and vinyl chloride copolymers must not exceed 40%.

3. DIBP is one of the commonly used primary plasticizers. It can be used as a plasticizer for cellulose resins, vinyl resins, nitrile rubber, and chlorinated rubber, among others. Its plasticizing performance is similar to that of DBP, and it exhibits excellent solubility, dispersibility, and adhesion. This product has good compatibility with pigments and can be used in colored films, artificial leather, and plastic products. It can also serve as a softener for natural and synthetic rubber, improving the resilience of the finished products. It can be used as a substitute for DBP.
