
Overview
Propyltriethoxysilane is a new type of coupling agent that delivers excellent results in the surface treatment of organic materials and inorganic metals. It is particularly effective in glass-fiber-reinforced composites, the treatment of inorganic powder fillers, and as a tackifier in coatings and inks.
Applications
1. It strongly promotes the bond strength between resins and traditional and non-traditional substrates—such as glass, metals, nylon, and plastics—even in the presence of moisture.
2. It is used for the cross-linking of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers, chlorinated polyethylene, and ethylene-acrylic acid-vinyl acetate copolymers. Isocyanate-propyl triethoxysilane is suitable for fiberglass-reinforced materials such as polyacid resins, epoxy resins, phenolic resins, melamine-formaldehyde resins, nylon, and polysulfone. Fiberglass-reinforced plastic treated with isocyanate-propyl triethoxysilane can be widely used in the manufacture of mechanical parts, building materials, pressure vessels, and reinforced materials for certain specialized applications.
