Key Applications
1. Organic Synthesis: As a commonly used alkylation reagent, it is used to prepare Grignard reagents and alkyl lithium reagents, and serves as a key intermediate in the synthesis of isopropylamine and isopropyl-based fine chemicals
2. Pesticides and Pharmaceuticals: It serves as a key synthetic intermediate for agricultural chemicals such as the fungicides mefenoxam and fluazamide, the insecticide cypermethrin, and the herbicide diquat, and is also used in the preparation of certain pharmaceutical products
3. Industrial Solvents: As a low-boiling-point, fast-drying solvent, it is used for dissolving and processing special resins and rubbers, and can also serve as a low-temperature reaction medium.
Standard Storage Requirements
1. Basic Storage Conditions: Must be stored in a completely sealed container. It is generally recommended to store at 2–8°C in a refrigerated environment. In industrial warehouses, the temperature must be strictly controlled below 30°C. Before opening the container, it must be cooled to approximately 0°C to avoid the risk of splashing caused by excessive volatilization at high temperatures.
2. Safety Isolation Requirements: Storage facilities must be equipped with explosion-proof lighting and ventilation systems. Keep the substance away from open flames, heat sources, and electrostatic sparks at all times; the use of equipment or tools that may generate sparks is strictly prohibited. It must be stored strictly separate from strong oxidizing agents and strong alkali chemicals; mixed storage is absolutely prohibited
3. Storage Control Guidelines: This substance evaporates extremely rapidly; storage areas must be equipped with complete emergency spill response equipment and explosion-proof containment materials. Strictly implement the “two-person, dual-lock” management system for flammable hazardous chemicals to prevent the accumulation of large amounts of vapor that could form explosive mixtures.
