Product Characteristics
Also known as propylene oxide or methyl ethylene oxide, it is an organic compound and a very important raw material for organic compounds. It is a colorless liquid with an odor similar to that of diethyl ether. It is soluble in water and miscible with most organic solvents, including methanol, diethyl ether, acetone, benzene, and carbon tetrachloride. It is the third-largest propylene derivative, following polypropylene and acrylonitrile.
Product Applications
Propylene oxide is primarily used in the production of polyether polyols, propylene glycol, and various nonionic surfactants.
