
Product Characteristics
Commonly known as octanol, it is also referred to as 2-ethylhexanol, with the English abbreviation 2-EH. It is a colorless, flammable liquid with a distinctive odor, a relative density of 0.831, and a boiling point of 183.5°C. It is insoluble in water but miscible with most organic solvents. Octanol should be packaged in clean, dry, galvanized iron drums, and the containers must be tightly sealed. In accordance with regulations for flammable materials, it must be stored and transported at low temperatures and protected from direct sunlight.
Product Applications
Octanol is primarily used in the production of dioctyl terephthalate (D0TP), dioctyl phthalate (DOP), and isooctyl acrylate. It is also used in defoamers, dispersants, mineral processing agents, and petroleum additives.
