Applications
1. Used in the pesticide industry to prepare the organophosphate insecticide malathion; it is also an intermediate in the production of pharmaceuticals, fragrances, and water quality stabilizers (organic polycarboxylic acid phosphonate compounds).
2. Serves as a monomer for polymer compounds and an intermediate in the production of pesticides, pharmaceuticals, fragrances, and water quality stabilizers (organic polycarboxylic acid phosphonate compounds). It is primarily used in the production of the organophosphate pesticide malathion (Malathion).
3. Used for the determination of ammonia and potassium. Gas chromatography stationary phase (maximum operating temperature 40°C; solvents: benzene, chloroform, ethanol). Used as a solvent for resins and nitrocellulose, a plasticizer, in organic synthesis, as an insecticide, a polymer monomer, and a plastic additive.
