Primary Uses
It was used as a food flavoring in 2002, but following a reevaluation by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) in 2013, which confirmed that the substance exhibited mutagenicity in both in vitro and in vivo tests, it was removed from the EU list of food flavorings. Currently, it may only be used in compliant industrial synthesis and the research and development of non-edible fragrances.
