Overview

Methyltriacetoxysilane is a coupling agent for one-component, room-temperature-curing silicone rubber. Appearance: colorless, transparent liquid; boiling point: 110–112°C; density (25°C): 1.1740; refractive index (20°C): 1.4083. When added to silicone rubber, it allows for curing and molding without the need for heating. For components that cannot withstand high temperatures, the use of this type of coupling agent for silicone cross-linking and curing is particularly important. Its acyloxy group is more reactive than other groups such as methoxy and ethoxy, decomposes more rapidly, and provides better adhesion to materials such as aluminum alloys, nylon, glass, and ceramics.

Applications

1. Primarily used in room-temperature vulcanizing (RTV) silicone rubber compounds and as a synthetic raw material.

2. Used as a crosslinking agent for bonding plastics, nylon, ceramics, aluminum, and other materials to silicone rubber.

3. Used as an inhibitor and additive in synthetic rubber.
