Chemical Properties:

Colourless, volatile, flammable liquid. Soluble in benzene, diethyl ether, and perchloroethylene.

Chlorotrimethylsilane is a colorless, transparent liquid with a pungent odor. When exposed to air, it readily reacts with moisture to form hydrogen chloride. It is soluble in benzene, diethyl ether, and perchloroethylene, and serves as an excellent reagent for introducing a trimethylsilyl group into organic molecules. Due to its ability to both attach and remove the trimethylsilyl group, trimethylsilyl can serve as a protecting group for functional groups such as hydroxyl, carboxyl, and amino groups.

Product Purpose:

1.This product is primarily used as an intermediate in the production of organosilicon polymers and other products. It is also used as a capping agent for polymers, a desiccant, a dehydrating agent, a high-temperature adhesive, and a raw material for resins. In pharmaceutical manufacturing, it is used in the synthesis of cephalosporin I and cephalosporin V.

2.An organic synthesis intermediate and a raw material for the production of silicone resins, silicone rubbers, high-temperature adhesives, sealants, desiccants, and dehydrating agents. It is used in the production of various organosilicon compounds and serves as the primary raw material for production of hexamethyldisilazane and hexamethyldisiloxane. This product can be used to prepare alkylating agents and also serves as a group-protecting agent in pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing.

3.Used as an intermediate in silicone oil production, a water-repellent agent, an analytical reagent, an intermediate in polysilicone liquid production, a capping agent for methyl silicone oil, and a water-resistant agent.

4.This product can be used in the production of various organosilicon compounds and serves as a key raw material for the manufacture of hexamethyldisilazane and hexamethyldisiloxane. It can be used to prepare alkylating agents and also functions as a group-protecting agent in pharmaceutical and chemical manufacturing.
